I learned by reading tutorials online. It gave me basic proficiency. The rest I learned by poking and clicking to see how it's done.

What program you use

I typically just use Audacity. The fancier ones are too complicated for me and I don't feel a need to learn how to use them.

The missus does most of my mixing and editing in post. She uses Bitwig more often than not.
