I think I recall reading something about how it had to be a mile high to be considered a mountain - but they call where I live 'the mountains' and nothing here is much higher than 3800 to 4200 feet. A quick Google tells me it must be 300 meters above the surrounding area.
300 meters is more than 900', so that's probably not technically a mountain.
I don't think it is a mountain though it does rise above the surrounding landscape quite formidably.

That is not a mountain
It doesn't look very mountain-like, but I don't want to hurt its feelings. It definitely stands out against the surrounding terrain, so I give it credit for trying hard.

I live just about where the arrow is. Rangeley is down around the edges of the lake, mostly. You can't really see it from there. That's over on Rt. 17 on the "Height Of The Land".
Those look more like mountains that that picture I sent you. I can see that you would have some drastic elevation changes driving in that terrain. The 'mountain' in this area is really just a monadnock
