There are millions of AdSense customers.
On the other end, there's no human involved either - just the person putting up the money, selecting what ads they want to show, and setting how much they want to bid for every ad shown/clicked. There's no human on the Google side unless there's a problem.
(I've paid for Google Ads and I've been paid from Google Ads. I've seen both sides of the process.)
Who sets the rates? The ad buyer?
Yeah, it's a bidding process where you decide how much you're willing to pay for an impression or a click. So, the price is set buy the ad buyer. Google keeps a percentage and gives a percentage to you.
I looked it up and I appear to get 68% of the ad revenue.
Oh, so the more you pay the better sites you get on, or the more it is shown regardless of site?
