Oh, it did - but not by much. I was counting the top speed based on how it went on the more flat section around the lake. On the hill, I'd probably hit 55 or so before braking heavily. This is how you keep your brakes as cool as possible. In these types of situations, heat is the enemy of braking ability. So, I'd slow, toss it in 2nd, let the RPM build up to where the engine howled, feed it third, let the RPM build up until the engine howled, and then I'd brake heavily to put it back in 2nd and start it all over again.
Fortunately, it's also a pretty light vehicle. So, it doesn't take much to slow it down. There's enough compression that I was able to get back to the village without much of an issue. I'd not want to take Rt. 4 to Farmington with it. That's just too steep. I'd have to crawl down it in like 1st and 2nd, meaning it'd take a long time - and be hell on the engine.
That's the most steep way to get here, it's also the most regularly used route to get to Rangeley. They did some major construction on it, but that only got rid of some really twisty and steep sections for about a mile. It helped, but the road is still steep and twisty.
It's 90 some degrees here today, I don't know how hot it is there but the heat that is here would not help the brakes cool off.
One of my old friends was messaging me today and he got a package in the mail. It was a CD, a brand new CD, by some Van Halen sounding band from Los Angeles. I guess the guitar player used to be a friend of Edward Van Halen. Anyways, this guy put out a new CD last week and mailed on to my friend. My friend does not have a CD player, but he opened the CD up and was reading the texts printed in the CD and when he got to the special thanks part, he suddenly found his name! hey band put his name on their new CD because he inspired them. How cool is that? He did not even know that it was on there, he was not even expecting to receive the CD in the mail or anything. He is all excited that he has his name on a real major label CD release. That's pretty cool. He doesn't even play, well he tries to play guitar but he sucks shit. I don't know how he inspired them, but that is pretty awesome. Apparently he befriended the guitar player in the band over facebook
Well, maybe he inspired them by being a bad musician?
I've done some studio work that later ended up on major labels - and had a major label contract (that turned into nothing) in the 70s.
LOL I've been on a lot of CDs that were decidedly not major labels.
Yeah but you belong on the CDs.
