I used to set my kids on the floor with pots, pans, and wooden spoons. We'd jam for hours.
It's a great way to start. It hasn't got to start off good - it has to start off fun, inviting interest, and become a habit. ;-)

Sounds like a good plan to me, when we are at the in laws we have some Native American style drums they play while grandpa plays his guitar, that’s part of the reason I want to learn.
