thanks
i think once i get a new bobbin and wind it to about 6.2k and use same hand wound scatter pattern and try get line and body close to same ill be in business. i read a bunch about pickup building before i started. watched a tone of videos of ppl winding and testing and recording results. ill do the same. i did notice i went for midrange sound i got it once i get the new pickup built ill do a new sound test. might put old pickup back in so i can play this weekend then remove later. takes 2-4 weeks from tone kraft.
I never tried to wind a pickup
get the cheapo amazon one took about 30 once i got adjusted to tension. i would make a suggestion and build a jig so wire can only travel so far on x axis and you can use a drill to wind it out in about 5 minutes to be honest. order a set of tone kraft bobbins pick your magnets can do different size different types any combo you want then get 42,43 or 44awg and wind them out. use a scatter wound method for mid and treb or a constant for that muddy bassy mid tone.
I am not sure if I really want to get in to doing all that, I could just have someone like you make some for me LoL
I've got this strat copy that was a walmart special beginners guitar for $30 including an amp! That an artist friend of mine carved snakes in to the body of and it looks really cool but the pick ups are real cheap. SIngle coil three pickup strat, the guitar plays great actually. Great action and stays in tune pretty good.
