Not even remotely (for event insurance). You can get a full year's worth of 1 mil coverage for anywhere from $200 to $1500, depending on who you go through and what you might want to add on. For about $400 you get replacement insurance for equipment. Anything over 25k won't have a deductible. Liability insurance isn't that bad, though you may need a per-location documentation. Once you've done it for one venue, you can just renew it yearly if you plan on playing there regularly.
It's pretty simple stuff to deal with.
So for generally less than a hundred bucks a month they can be covered in case of disaster or pretty much any sort
Pretty much... There's other insurance, like insuring the truck, but it all gets written off, meaning the income that paid for it wasn't taxed.
It's pretty stupid to be a professional musician without insurance, regardless of the venue. It's like driving a car without insurance - when you can't afford to cover the expenses if you end up causing a damage.
What would the band insurance need to cover that the venue would not cover?
