A Ferrari day sure sounds like a hell of a good day to me!
Which one of those goldtops are better? Did Gibson improve on the design or hardware over those few years in between to make the 57 worth more or is it some ridiculous collector driven thing? I would think the 53 is more rare
The '57 has a better tailpiece, but that's about it. They're very similar, but the '57 is more popular. The '57 was also like the first year for the burst, so people want to be associated with that year. It's mostly some absurd collector thing, 'cause ain't too many people out there gigging with a 35k vintage Les Paul.
I could easily do a BMW day. I have a lot of 'em. I could also do a Porsche day and a Mercedes day. I've got plenty of those. Shit, I could do a Mustang day - and I'm not even a huge Mustang fan. I somehow own like 20 of 'em. That's after selling some!
LoL I do remember you buying a whole lot of Mustangs
They're good stores of value, kinda like a Corvette. With few exceptions, they'll increase in value - especially the special editions.
Also, I've found two instances where someone unknown bought a guitar and everyone assumed it was Joe Bonamassa when it most certainly was not him. I am 100% certain he did not buy those guitars, like it was rumored he did. I found another one where people were certain it was Slash who bought the guitar. No, it was also not Slash in that instance.
(I've been watching a lot of Les Paul related stuff lately.)
I never, ever correct them. I don't own (or buy) guitars to brag about them. Hell, I don't even mention my collection to the vast majority of people. I simply never tell them, even if the subject comes up. I buy guitars because I like them. I also buy some as a way to store value or even to speculate on them - betting that they'll increase in value as time passes. I never expect to sell any of them - but I do enjoy seeing the overall value of my collection increase. That's fun for me. But, no... No, I don't brag about them or even talk that much about them.
Hell, I was talking to a new person who shared this week. We exchanged a ton of messages. I never once brought up my collection, even though I'm sure they'd like to know and be interested in it. Shit, how long did it take me to start sharing numbers and values with you?!? And we've been at it for five fuckin' years.
