Verle is missing, nobody has heard from him for a few days. His son is in town and verles not home not anywhere to be found

Did anyone check the hospital or jail? Did anyone ask his neighbors? If it has been a few days, you can file a report - well the son should do that. It's one of those rare times when cops might be helpful, though they may just decide he left on his own and he's an adult so he can do that. The size of your city and attitude of the police department are what determines the latter, as near as I can tell.

I'd next check the local hospitals. He was in one recently, maybe he had a preference and went back to that same one?

I take it someone called the jail? If there's an online portal, they sometimes aren't complete.
