Did you work from a kit set or is it your own design?

I enjoy putting pedals together, I've done 12 or so. When I start soldering I fall into a zen state...until I get it all put together and the damn thing doesn't work on the first try. Then I get pissed and set it aside for a couple weeks, and eventually troubleshoot it out of frustration and vengeance till it works.
Sounds like an interesting way to spend some time and it's really useful. Does it work out much cheaper?
Yeah, especially on the hard-to-find pedals.
The cool thing is that you can use the schematic to build it on a breadboard first, and at that point you can swap components to see how it affects the sound. Different transistors have different gain, and different resistor/capacitor networks can drastically change the tone.
