I have watched videos of a guy taking the plates and gears out and putting new ones in
So long as you get 'em in the right order AND facing the right direction, it's not that bad. I've been to a transmission shop and watched/talked while mine was being repaired. The big cost savings is taking it out of the vehicle for them. That'll cut your bill in half.
It really did not look too hard to do
Nah, but I suppose it takes a while before you can just do it without things like taking pictures of your progress.
I've been watching a reality TV show about people in Alaska. It really kinda/almost/maybe makes me regret my decision to not have retired to Alaska. That, and places like Tahoe/Truckee Pass, were on my list of places to consider living.
I kinda wish I'd picked Alaska. I'd have a very comfortable life and I'd live up near the arctic cicle. Some small village with a few hundred people, an airport, and loads of cheap land.
