Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask theBuddha, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

Reminder: December 23rd is going to be our Christmas edition of the Friday Night Guitar Thread. Get to working on your Christmas songs now so they are done in time!

I did indeed. I was on the ball!

There's a further thought experiment.

What if they'd saved all the discarded boat parts and used those parts to construct a new ship? Would that ship be the Ship of Theseus or would the other one be his ship?

Also, I thought it was a Zeno Paradox, but it is not one of his.

It's almost like, would anybody notice if they sank the Britannic instead of the Titanic and just changed the names.

I guess with the crappy old parts re-assembled the new one would have to be called the new-boat.

I was thinking earlier, if there was a certain old car that you had always really wanted to own and none were available how much would it cost to build a replica with a modern drivetrain and suspension that still looks like the old car

A lot. It'd cost a whole lot. I can't even speculate, but we're talking multiples of six figures.

Now, there's some good info. Many of the desirable cars still have things like body panels being remanufactured. A modern frame that's complete with all the bits isn't actually all that expensive.

So, if you can still buy body panels that'll save you a bunch of money.

Otherwise, you're talking about recreating them based on photos and (hopefully) finding a real car to measure from every point.

They do make complete replicas, but those are made in multiples - so the development cost is offset by having a market to sell multiple examples. As this is just one example, it's gonna cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

If it is just for yourself and all you really want is for it to appear to be the classic you are going for, hell it may even be a chopped version of a classic. Couldn't for a couple hundred grand have a car that would pretty much look like it was whatever car you were after but could not get?
