I believe the musical acts have to pay the NFL millions of dollars for the privilege of performing for such a large audience. One would think they would have been rehearsing for months and have the show down to a T.
I believe that's mostly rumor... Lemme look it up. Yeah, that's a rumor...
Yeah, they don't get paid much directly. The expenses are covered by the NFL, including travel and lodging.
The artist does get paid at 'union scale', and that's it. The NFL pays a lot of money for the show, overall. They pay for all the show's equipment and stuff like that.
Here's one such link that popped up in my search:
I had heard that they let the band with the highest bid do the show
Nah, they pick from a committee and then ask the artists if they're willing to perform.
I knew (was pretty sure) it was a rumor 'cause I know someone who worked with Bruce Springsteen at the time he performed.
LOL Can you imagine Springsteen paying to perform? He doesn't need any more fans. He's got enough to last him a lifetime - and indeed they will 'cause most of 'em are about his age. Springsteen ain't gonna give you money to perform, not even if you're the NFL!
By the way, Bruce is pretty down to earth. He's pretty much like you'd expect him to be.
