Ten grand?
Nah, not that bad. It's 2 grand - but the wait is about a year 'cause nobody has them in stock.
It's not that they're not in stock in the US, it's that they're not in stock anywhere on the planet.
I dont think there were that many of those cars made and sold. But you would think some kind of aftermarket motor and gear could be made to work
I'm sure something could be made to work, but one doesn't put aftermarket parts on a Bentley.
It's a fairly common problem, as well... What I'd expect to find is a rebuild kit (eventually), where you replace the gears with something stronger than the existing plastic gears and it retains the same Bentley housing.
They're kinda shitty to work on. You have to remove the engine, or the front of the car, for simple jobs. There are a couple of vacuum hoses that wear and then require complete engine removal. The engine damned near touches the firewall. The interior actually is shaped as it is, in the middle, to allow for the engine more room. Getting to the starter requires ripping all sorts of the bottom apart.
I ain't gonna work on it. I'm not even going to change the fucking oil.
