Ah - I'll have to see if I can find a copy. Thanks! He's an excellent guitarist and a wonderful teacher, though I wish he'd do more of the teaching part as I can see how well it is done.

As for the Flight of the Bumblebees remark, it was based on the similarity with regards to a portion of what he was playing and the classical piece by that name. They're musically fairly similar, at least for a small part of the track (lasting about a minute, as I recall).

I take it you're a fan?

I've been listening to Dream Theater since Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance. I managed to see them live twice during the progressive nation tours. I had a buddy that is a guitarist that was heavy influenced by Petrucci and Dave Mustaine. That's how I learned of him.

I think I first heard of him in the Guitar World articles that he used to write. I've never seen him live, but that's just because I've not been close enough at the right time.

Do you play?

I'm beginning again. I tried years ago, but shit kept getting in my way, and I finally have to freedom to try again. I asked you for tips not too long ago. I picked up an Ibanez acoustic/electric combo and a chord bible. I've order the Petrucci dvd since I read your article. I didn't know he had one.

I'm coming along better than I thought I would so far. I supposed I retained more from my original attempt than I had imagined.
