A 9mm will blow your lungs out of your body. Sniffin joe said so.

I took 2 .380's, one went in-out through the chest, the other hit me in the ass but bounced off my pelvis and shredded my colon. Was a teenager at the time. Two different occasions, not twice in one go. Got one, then another one like 3 years later.

It could collapse your lung, at least mine did. That part healed up nice and fast. In fact, I was up moving my ass around the very next day... grabbed a wheelchair and my IV tower thingy and wheeled my ass outside Detroit Receiving Hospital to bum a cigarette from someone.

The other one, the ass one... was the worst. Wore a colostomy bag that whole summer. Nasty shit. Stayed in U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor for this one. Couldn't move much for a couple of weeks, not that I wanted to anyway; my shit was all fucked up.

Lived to tell the tale.

This is the very first time I've ever let this particular cat out of the bag, probably the last.

Had those been high velocity/rifle rounds... I would surely be dead as fuck.

So that's the reality. Won't blow your lung clean out of your body as Sniffin Joe says, but still can and will fuck you up real good.

Edit: Want to add that now that I'm pushing 40... I find myself always apologizing to my ma n' pa for putting them through all that bullshit. Imagine your kid's friend waking you up at 2am to tell you your son just got shot, and it's pretty bad. (that crime scene photo of my bloody t-shirt and pool of blood... damn) Then it happens again a few years later.

Could have been worse I guess, it always can... With hollow point bullets for instance

Thanks for sharing. It is jaw droppingly stupid what people think, and what they will say. In this instance, a desperate page added to the gun grabber playbook. .380 is a " short 9mm" IIRC? Serious enough it seems.

Yep. Thank God they weren't hollow points.

Funny the first thought in my head the 2nd time was literally "oh no, not again!" Then not-so-funny, looked up at my surroundings thinking "this is probably the last stuff I'll ever see..." Luckily that wasn't the case!

Def glad the second injury healed or your life would be totally different.
