IANAL, But I can guarantee that putting traps on your property is generally illegal. I've read about a few court cases related to this, one a person was convicted of murder for putting a small wire on his property across a trail where people ride atvs. It ended up decapitating a person and he was arrested and charged with murder.

So you can put traps in your property. Not on public area. But be ready to face arbitrary laws made by jews running states/counties.
You can't. There isn't a national law, but all 50 states have some kind of law against man-traps. The problem is the edge cases. Say you set up a trap, and then die of a heart attack. Now, 10 years later, some 8 year old kid is wandering around "that old abandoned property" and runs into your trap. You never intended anything to happen to the kid, but the trap doesn't care.
