If you try to advertise a new merchandise by insisting that an outdated method like door-to-door is sufficient, it's still an effort to sell your merchandise, just not as efficient as putting an ad on websites or on TV.
Who will actually turn profit and bring forth an effective change, someone who insists on "the traditional methods" or someone who can take constructive criticism and take on the most effective method?
