Yes, but not the way everyone thinks. Whites didn't just wake up one day and say "gee, this slavery stuff is bad, maybe we should stop it." We ended slavery by making technological advances that made forced labour obsolete and backwards. Once that happened it became possible to simply criminalise it and shut down the trade routes since pretty much everyone had stopped doing it anyway.

The south of the US was slightly behind the curve (having a larger slave economy and less whites overall), but it was still headed in the same direction. Slavery would have ended there within decades without hundreds and thousands of whites needing to die for it and secession rights beign sent to an early grave.

WTF are you talking about? Upper and Lower Canada banned the practice 7 years after establishing the colonies, before it had even become commonplace and well before the advent of the industrial revolution.

European technological advancement didn't start with the industrial revolution.

There was still a use for slaves that was commonplace elsewhere for nearly a century while here was rejected.
