Ancient Greece gave birth to many philosophical currents, but for some reason the only thing recognized as important today is democracy, which, even in the different context of the times, undermined the future of the Athenian state.
Athenian democracy was very different to what we have now. It was the kind of system that would be ideal in a society of scholars and philosophers. Everyone was called to serve in the senate like jury duty. The rules though were that all 4 grandparents must be athenian (no half bloods, quarter bloods, immigrants etc), no women no children. Only pureblooded athenian men were allowed to participate.
