Here, I will say yes. I won't say why I think that, but after convos with boss, I have my reasons for thinking it.

I think is a fine admin and it's obvious he has too much other shit to do than to waste time on reading user messages. I'm just saying... root access is root access. It's how every major site complies w/ law enforcement requests. Private messages aren't private and direct messages are not direct on any third party server. It's just the nature of the beast. Many a slip btw a cup and a lip.

I think you and I might see privacy from different angles in this situation. From the prospect of end to end encrypted messages that are unreadable to anyone but the user, no, and I don't think you'll find anything for your afford mentioned reasons. But in terms of a place where privacy is afforded to the users as a whole (beyond IP addresses, but that's another story and I understand that) I believe that AOU and anyone else he may have helping don't tinker at all. In the few interactions where AOU has let me peek tiny workings of how this place runs, I can see not only very strong encryption from his end, but also a major desire to stay hands off wherever possible.

You guys can use Poal chat with an encrypted private room. Only people invited can read the messages, and even not the past ones if that setting in the sub prefs has been enabled.

Well yeah I'm doing the whole akshually and teknically.... lol. runs a tight ship. Doesn't try to spy w/ extensions, trackers, ads etc. He's as perfect an admin as anyone could ask. MOst companies just want to harvest and sell your data these days. I actually have one of those stupid corporate swag shirts they gave out that says 'data is the new bacon'. I hate how true it is. If the admins here were running that kind of shit here my adblocker and tracker blocking would always be lit up, they never are.
