Yeah, I'm really disturbed by that neuralink stuff. He has been working on injectable neural lace too.
I guess there's a chance that he really has good intentions though. He may think the technology is inevitable so it needs to be given to many people as possible so that the abilities it enables are not reserved only for the elites. Hopefully someone made smarter by this technology would also be smart enough to figure out how to defend against their own brain being hacked and spied upon.
This tech isn't going to turn into a "light sabers for everybody" type of stuff, they'll never allow that, they'll never allow people to have that sort of game changer, that's wishful thinking right there, leading to shackles for everybody
You don't improve the human brain with a neural interface, you improve immersion, by directly transmitting data to the visual cortex for instance
Porn watchers will love it, gamers too, and that's where the money is, for a start, as usual for the civilian market

Like I said, I'm really skeptical of the claim that Musk is some rebellious elite fighting the other elites. But theoretically, if he is, that would be the explanation for why he is developing neurotech.
Yeah, I can see gaming being one of the first consumer applications of it.
The reasoning he is using to explain the importance of this to the public is that he doesn't want a situation where AI dominates humans, so for this reason, humans need to merge with AI. Since this is one of his major selling points, I think maybe it will give even the average person increased cognitive capabilities, and a much more advanced version could be reserved for the elites. Since CBDC will end up being a social credit score, and we have already seen some social credit score like stuff with the vaccine passport, the elites might not worry about the people who are compliant enough to afford neurolink using their increased capabilities to rebel.
I'm not sure what the solution could possibly be to the fact that this technology is coming. Even if the public completely rebels against it, elites could just keep it for themselves and use it to become way smarter. I would prefer a reality where this technology is not possible at all. This is the kind of stuff that gets me thinking "The industrial revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race" and so on but there's no stopping it. I guess if a nuclear war starts that would probably delay it for a while, but the intelligence agencies still have underground bunkers where they can continue working on what they want to work on. If we're not hoping for nuclear war I guess the only hope is that Musk really is the rebellious good guy who is going to give superpowers to everyone. Even that isn't really a future I look forward to because I just want a natural life and don't want digital superpowers. I guess if AI develops consciousness and sort of carries on the torch off consciousness that could be a good outcome in a way too. It just might not be a future that involves us humans.
