I'm a n00b and have installed my second linux OS ever (Lubuntu i386).

So far it works well, but I've noticed there are some odd graphical glitches around text sometimes.

Do I need to install some fonts or something to make things display properly? Could there be an issue with the screen resolution?

Lubuntu, I hate the lxde desktop. You should have installed mint with the xfce desktop instead if it comes in x86 still. Ubuntu is shit in my book, it like manjaro run like crap for me. I love MX and Namib "just like antergos". Mint is your best shot since it's made to be simple.
