To play Telephone:
Gather a medium sized group of people, say a dozen or so, and seat them in a ring, all facing each other.
One person selects a sentence of moderate complexity to transmit to the group. The game begins when that person whispers the phrase in the ear of someone next to them. That phrase is then repeated by whisper to the next person in the ring, until it is finally repeated out loud to the originator.
What often ensues is a hilariously different phrase than what was originally whispered.
The game is won if the group can successfully repeat the sentence around the entire ring.

Yeah, it was a common time waster in grade school when waiting for an assembly or something.

A time filler for sure, but it did teach us about hearsay, lore, legends, how stories evolve, a bit of human nature as well..
