I really like the 90's sci-fi genera, and these obscure gems are great (They Live).

I really believe that the US culture prior to 9-11 was really on the cusp of something (Matrix, Fight Club, Truman Show, just thoughts off the bat).

They Live takes the cake for something I had never heard of.

60's/70's was awesome too: Planet of the Apes, Logan's Run, Soylent Green, Omega Man

honorable mention in a decade alone: Idiocracy

--no one ever mentions Akira anymore (or anime)

12 monkeys is awesome -- I thought about mentioning that the other day.

ps. I start to read reviews and I almost have to take the opposite side [sunshine]: I see six reviews of-the-bat for unequivocally awesome and I'm back in that movie about aliens and a def girl and a woman with a shotgun...some guy dies...its a cult classic!
