Wanted to beat the heat for a few hours and went to see this. I really liked the original back in the day (fuck I'm getting old).
I'm glad I went to the theater a little further out and saved $0.75 on the ticket because it was one of the most retarded pieces of shit I've ever watched. Bad writing, bad direction, stupid plot.
I don't often fault direction, but it really stood out in this case. Danny Boyle is past his prime and shouldn't be let near a production again.
Story was fucking retarded. Characters have iron clad plot armor and you know nothing bad is going to happen to them time and again. It totally lacks the dread of the original. At one point they just straight throw out the notion that any fluid from an infected will infect you.
The ending was the most out of left field fucking thing I had seen in awhile. Should have just called it about 3 minutes earlier before the last sequence.
Fuck, what a waste. Not going to bother with the rest of the trilogy they're making.
