Don't know about DC specifically, but in other states self-defense has both a subjective and objective components. Even if the cop says they were in fear of their life, there is still the objective component that can be argued.

Oh yeah, but then regardless of any of that, any prosecution then still has to overcome 'Qualified immunity' .... Unfortunately dollars to donuts nothing to see here.
