I am now really starting to believe that much of the KKK, etc. burning of black churches in 1960s would not have happened without FBI paid informants and agents. Made for great press, increase in funding and made them look like heroes for "catching the bad guys."

I'm inclined to believe that also. Other than the most generic of local community organizing against degenerate depredation - much of it was certainly co-opted and exploited by/ for politics ...
