The police were worse than useless. They were unwilling to risk their lives to stop a man murdering children but they couldn't let parents show them up either. In the end it was an off duty border patrol agent who did what was necessary. Abolish the police, these days they only serve to protect criminals from what good people would do to them.

The cops should never have stopped the parents. If the cop is unwilling to risk his life, ok. Shitty, but ok fine. But stopping the parent who is willing to risk his life is the same as running interference for the perp.
