Yeah , just waiting it out is about the best strategy
We were in a village once back in 2006. I started talking with a young guy that I knew good and well was Taliban.
I told him, "You know, if you guys would just stop shooting at us, sit back and do nothing but wait? In about six months the us.gov will get bored, declare victory and leave." He said, "Yeah, I know, but they just won't do it. The madrassas in Pakistan keeps sending us these new guys that are all fired up and want to die for Islam, so they keep shooting at the Americans."
We both had a good laugh.
