Building up a property and making it self sufficient is something rewarding and cheap. I can't imagine getting much out of parking a RV in a field and sitting in a lawn chair all day.

Besides, sitting in a chair all day is hardly the point. The point is, you pull over when you feel like it, and move on when you feel like it.
I driven all over these past years and it's mundane as can be. I can't stand endless two lanes anymore. Maybe there's secret RV paradises I haven't seen but I've only seen these things in lame parks and truck stops. If I want to go to Yellowstone or something I'll just take a regular vacation there.
