This doesn’t answer your question but if there is less engagement it could be from people doing the same thing as me - I was very engaged leading up to the events at the capitol and after that I decided I need a break for my own sanity. Just temporary after all the suspense and how things dragged on after the election.
Yeah, I figured I got the most of an answer as I was going to get even though it wasn't really answered. So I left it at that.
I thought of exactly what you are saying, people are probably feeling pretty burnt out, It's a very stressful time for many.
People also jump on new things when certain events happen like the censorship and then trickle back on the platforms and obey the rules more because they are addicted to content. Reddit for instance has a lot of engagement, a LOT of people were really angry when censorship started there and they started banning subs. Like a frog in a pot with the water slowly getting hotter, people have short term memories or do mental gymnastics in order to overcome what they previously believed was their line in the sand.
