See I never had training or education on form so I wouldn't know. Maybe I missed something, maybe not.
Where'd you learn?
Used to be a songwriter. Actually experiment with my own ideas of form, but did write a villanelle about Gilles de Rais. Certainly take inspiration from the masters too. Ezra pound, TS Eliot, Jorge Luis Borges, Coleridge, some ancient Greeks, etc.
villanelle about Gilles de Rais.
I can only imagine.
Never was much familiar with Ezra Pound, but TS Eliot is obviously a classic.
I learned about contrast from a quote by Frederick Douglass. Yeah yeah I know who he is. But this one quote of his always stuck with me " It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake."
Whats your favorite Coleridge?
Not familiar with Horge Luis Borges.
Also, songwriter?
Borges is great. Argentine. Bit of a philosemite, but explored many different cultures. Labyrinths, enigmas, dreams, metaphysics.
Kubla khan of course, the spidery witch one - name escapes me.
Yeah, I'm 'retired'. Would always write poetry too. Some things you can accomplish only in any medium... Benadryl kicking in. Bout to fall out
