The only two ways I can think of tracking something like that are radar detection systems that are active when the shot is fired (in order to obtain a trajectory), or a ShotSpotter-like system to detect the shot and triangulate a position.
Safe to say neither of those would be present in the fields of Georgia.

Personally I’m upset by this. Those were meant to be a guide to the race of humans that follows ours after a great natural catastrophe that is coming. 5000 years from now when the human race agains begin to make some headway into technology and repopulation, those would have been there to let them know someone came before them and left good advice.
