Thermite doesn't do much to stone or concrete slab.

That was steel, thermite is thermally active, stone has a much lower thermal index, also thermite isn't explosive. Thermite just melts and gets really hot, we use it commercially to weld train tracks together.

Also it would have been thermate in the towers, a slightly more forceful military mixture of thermite.
