It's done on purpose.

If your Xbox is shadow banned, if Steam doesn't like your IP or browser, if your IP range is "fishy" to microsoft mail, instead of telling you (which would alert you to change computer/tab/IP/browser), they give you as little information as possible.

Oops! An issue occured!

Nah the web is for normie idiots not techs that can actually fix things... I had to download the .dmp reader yesterday to read the error log for a bluescreen on my wife's laptop. Win 10 couldn't even include the tool to read the log! We never should have let the normies get internet access.

BTW yes, I' typing this on a mech KB from a desktop with a physical ethernet connection. I'll rant right along with you!

but does your Thinkpad have an IBM logo?

I did have 3 x61T's though they didn't have IBM logos just the thinkpad logos. They are long since retired core 2 duo and limited ram slots only get you so far even running linux.

Yeah, I just keep mine around for pinball on windows xp

Nerds have LONG assumed "we" are ALL morons (because we don't like them because they are CREEPY). That's how STUPID most nerds actually ARE.

I hate that too. But I'm pretty sure you wouldn't understand what the logs are spitting (without a context).

You would need to translate from cpu-pigdin to human.

Its ameusing when the error logs are sent to the browser console. Right click, inspect, switch to console tab and SUPRISE! Turns out new dipshits can't navigate relative folder structures, so the file your shit is dependant on to work on never loads.

In many cases those error messages are used when something there is nothing the user can do about it. So there's not really any useful info to provide. It's not uncommon for websites to have integrations with other systems.

For example, if there is a backend system involved that returns an unexpected error code when the website makes an API call to it. Or if the backend system is unavailable (network outage, down for maintenance, etc).

Often (but not always) these are caused by rushed or sloppy code.

It's the continued dumbing-down of all tech to remove control from the users. It's the same with systemd on Linux: admin tasks are simplified to the point of inanity, but doing anything outside of their intended usage is nearly impossible.

Also, fuck Poettering.
