It’s a good feeling. Depending on you solar charger or inverter, you might be able to dump excess power directly into hot water heater, thereby reducing energy for that,sometimes eliminating.
I was actually thinking of getting two solar hot water collectors as well. I've already had my furnace crap out. Got me thinking about domestic hot water.
Look into a wood or coal stove, maybe also look into how you can supplement water heating with wood.
Run the numbers, unlikely to be worth it, photovoltaic panels are so cheap by comparison, and the plumbing is expensive. Worse if you live where it could freeze.
