In most movies when I was a teen and still into movies, I had noticed a theme of forgiving cheaters, adulterers, every single scumbag in existence, etc. I never thought much about it, but not even the Bible preaches doing this. So really it was about conditioning young minds to forgive scumbags and get walked all over

I would say forgiveness is the #2 and #3 message of the Bible. Jesus died for your sins so that you might be forgiven. Forgiveness is a requirement of living a life inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. It should not allow others to continually sin against you.
