I'm upset about the price of potatoes.

Sure all groceries are high, but for some reason, it annoys the fuck out of me that potatoes are like 6 or 7 bucks for 5#s now. It isn't like I can't afford them, it's just the principle of it! Potatoes have always been a low cost way to fill bellies. I don't like this one bit.

Dried is the way to go. Assuming you can afford a means to cook them.

Having them nearly ready to eat removes a lot of calculations in terms of water and fuel. If I only had 30 minutes of power a day I would want to be boiling water for sanitation or emergency food supply rather than starting to cook dried beans.

I do agree as I alluded to. Having water could be come to be an issue too, like you're saying. We aren't there yet, so it's still a reasonable way to buy and cook for your day-to-day meals.

SHTF stocks, perhaps not so much.
