detaching from the "modern society" as much as possible really helps it out. Self employment, and no desire to go do anything that "normal" people do. Visit any stores as few and far between as possible. Do work quickly and efficiently so it doesnt take all day over many days. And detach from materialistic desires so you dont feel the need to spend a billion dollars on all the new and shiny cool things that the consumers just gotta have. If hippie communes werent full of dirty retarded hippies, Id be living in one of those rather than a normal place.
On that topic, I have a dream of creating a highly conservative simple community. I hesitate to call it a commune, because communism is gay, but a community working together to be self sustainable and off the grid and detached from the poison of modern society sounds pretty fuckin great to me. If anyone knows of one that exists already, clue me in, cuz i cant find one anywhere. Otherwise, if anyone that has the land or the wealth or the power to get us out of the system, IM IN.
I have been frequently thinking of gathering everyone that I like, and we all sell homes and incorporate a new town. We would build everything from the ground up. I would want people who know how to make building materials, we all work together to get everyone in good homes, and all be debt free. No property taxes, we all do our own work.
I dont even need what most people consider "good homes". I currently reside in a tiny home made from a shed, because fuck the housing market with a poison cactus. Id be cool with shipping container homes and the like. Most people think they need waaaaay more house than they really do, and they stuff it with useless junk. I'll be the guy that grows the plants for all the herbal medicines, and i guess if people want to eat plants, I grow edibles as well. But I'm a pretty good goat herder as well, and meat is for food while plants are for medicine/poison. And I may have some use as a sort of spiritual guide, getting in touch with my inner cave man and growing the plants and making herbal medicines, and i spose poisons (im not a poisoner, i promise! there is no honor in it. Though i have the ability) has opened my mind to a more Shamanistic way. Depending how the world goes, I may someday find my way to the Amazon and experience a true shaman guided ayahuasca experience.
Frankly, i just want to live in a shack and grow plants and make medicine and raise food and not have to deal with the absolute degenerate madness of the world anymore. Im half a step removed from being a monk or a shaman already at this point, and all that holds me back is having to pay taxes and bills, and not being allowed to grow certain plants or hunt for food with paying the kings due. I'll be the wise man in the woods for your little town that knows how to cure whatever ailment you come to me with.
I say "good" meaning big enough for each family member to have a bedroom, the house is well insulated and sealed so it is very good in all weather, built on piles so that no shifting occurs, and generally just a nice comfortable, welcoming place.
For food growing, I would like a nice large greenhouse that works year round, heated either by geothermal or the heat given off from compost production. I would like to grow fish and have plants or trees with long roots be in the same water as the fish so when the fish shit, it fertiliszes thr plants. A bunch of verticle farming in there as well.
Ideally the property would have flowing water that could be used to generate electricity and power everything so it is not reliant on the local power supply and have no bills each month. The water could be treated on site to use for drinking/cooking/bathing.
A small community with nearby homes on the same property housed by people I care about so that everyone will have time to visit friends and family, no more wasted time on thankless jobs or commuting. Everyone is self sustaining but we can all help each other out. The way things used to be.
