You can't get to a lower milestone without slipping lower than the last. There jumps just mark some event that took place at that distance down. Things don't just drop instantly.

I say it is because we aren't slipping and sliding down, it is almost always in lurches, jumps or falls. It is merely an illusion that we are on a slippery slope because if it was a slippery slope, you'd still be able to undo or climb out. At the federal level, what crap laws have been undone and gotten rid of since prohibition was ended?
