There's ~70,000 alcohol related deaths per year.
There's ~50,000 gun related deaths per year. Many of these cases are also in the alcohol related numbers.
Alcohol is also related to a majority of so-called date rape, child abuse, and domestic violence cases.
Guns can be responsible for preventing most rapes and domestic violence cases. They can also be used to solve for child abuse cases.
The companies that manufacture the alcohol make billions per year, poisoning people, killing them slowly over time, causing people to be violent, causing crashes. These are well documented effects of alcohol consumption.
If we apply all the same logic to alcohol that the anti-gun assholes apply to guns, do you think the argument would hold? Aside from them just agreeing to ban both, which would be rare to find someone who would take the ban alcohol position, I see no argument that could be used.
For the record I don't believe in banning most things and just prefer people to suffer swift and certain consequence. Logically though, alcohol should go first.
