How much land do you think it takes to house, feed, clothe, and otherwise provide for the needs of one civilized human being?

Well, the ENTIRE land surface of the world (including the antarctic, the mountains, deserts, jungle, etc) is 36.8 billion acres. The human population of the world is 7.84 billion people.

That is just 4.7 acres per person.

Now tell me if you think the oligarchs don't already have machinations regarding population control in mind? Perhaps global sterilization.

You mean like a mandatory vaccine for a cold virus?

[–] 0 pt

mRNA "vaccine" that changes your DNA, which can be triggered by a catalyst at a later date doesn't sound ridiculous.

Like that movie where nearly everyone drops dead at once?

I don't have a problem with global population control at all in principle, but I would want a good dude like Hitler in charge instead of a bunch of sneaky Jews.

Look at the projected population growth in the Orient and Africa. Asian countries like China, India are set to skyrocket by 2050, only to be left in the dust by neo-wakanda. With enough "great" minds they might be able to invent the wheel this time around.

Unfortunately, of all the ethnicities on the planet, who do you think is likely to get sterilized?

China did their own population control and it seems to have reached a stable level. Africa is the big problem: http://www.unzcloud.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Worlds-most-important-graph-2017.png

If africa stopped getting free food, they'd die off in a few weeks.

I need extra arctic. I've been running low on ice cubes recently. Whom do I contact to get MY fair share.

The big blank areas are (mostly) 'difficult' to habitate. Northern Canada beyond the treeline is all tundra (same with North Slope in Alaska), Africa has the Sahara in the north and Namibia/dry-as-fuck-lands in the southeast. Western China is all desert, Mongolia is all steppe or desert, Australia is mostly desert/arid, South America's got the Amazon where fish and bugs try to crawl up your wee or you can die in the deserts to the south. Greenland isn't green, Iceland barely has trees (and didnt have any at one point)--- also traditionally hard to get to. Russia has even more frozen tundra. The southern coast of the Arabian peninsula is all hot shitty desert. Western US is arid, New Zealand just fucked up, and Antarctica is as cold as my ex's heart.

Namibia is northwestern africa, not southeastern

It's southwestern***, Namibia touches South Africa. I don't know why I wrote southeast.

[–] 1 pt

Yeah i stand corrected. Always thought it was up above the ivory coast.

Southwestern.

[–] 0 pt

Huh, fuck me, youre right. I thought it was up by the ivory coast.

Right. So only about 2/3 of the land is really habitable. That takes us down to 3 acres per person, without allowing for natural wilderness at all.

This map doesn't have a legend so you can't really glean any conclusions from it.

We need to send rubbers to China & India

[–] 0 pt

We have 9 acres and 2 people. Just doing my share.

The world is nowhere near overpopulated. There are plenty of options using technology. For subsistence living for everyone?, yes.

[–] 3 pts

There was some old sci-fi book in which some 20 billion people lived in "floating skyscrapers" raised off the ground so every inch of soil could be used for food production. Even if possible that's some shit living conditions.

Under water, on top of water, under ground, in the sky, even the land has plenty of room. All the same places can grow food. Yes not my ideal living situation.

[–] 0 pt

I'd say either go forward (into space) or go backward (a good plague for housekeeping). Completely over running the planet like a virus is terrible, and probably what we'll do in the end...

[–] 0 pt

ya just go to a frozen wasteland to live. lots of space there

from one perspective what is the issue is the model for consumerism doesnt compat with this fact of population growth and the conglomerati doesnt know how to cope.

e, we need things that last but that would require such to be cool to do so. so art, culture would reinforce things like 1,000 year old trash incinerators that power water treatment plants that dont break,, etc..

it isnt peoples fault that they are multiplying as much as it is consumer culture. and even more poor want cellphones and handouts

also, humans get from the sea-area oil, fish, etc and also use it as a trash so there is this resource too.
