A recurring theme in the Bible is dependence on God for your needs. Jesus taught that love and forgiveness are His ways, and that those who followed Him should strive to be like Him. Jesus knew the whole wronging and revenge cycle is endless. Someone has to say “It’s not worth it. Get along! Love one another as I have loved you.”
