Is Broccoli Man-Made?

The short answer is yes, broccoli is man-made. Broccoli as we know it did not always exist as a plant but was created by humans through an extensive process.

It is not known exactly how many years ago broccoli emerged, but it is believed that early varieties of this plant appeared more than 2000 years ago. It was initially grown in Italy and was shipped to America and England in the 1700s and then to the rest of the world.

Sources indicate that broccoli originates from the Mediterranean region and East Asia. The evidence even shows that the first species of this plant were cultivated in the Roman Empire.

The name broccoli originates from the plural of the Italian word “broccolo,” which can translate as “the flowering crest of a cabbage“, and is the diminutive form of “brocco“, signifying “sprout“.

Same goes for all the other produce you buy as well. Grain too. None of them are actually man made. We just directed evolution via genetics.

[–] 3 pts

And bananas corn and fuggin something else

[–] 1 pt

Do you think we came from monkeys?

[–] 8 pts

All of the food you eat has been genetically modified. Not to be confused with bio-engineered.

[–] 6 pts

This is correct. We do not grow the same wheat (example) we found 25k years ago.

We have domesticated most of the common fruits, veggies, and grains. To grow in more areas, more often, and yield larger results. Mostly we did this through trial and error breeding with different varieties of the same species, and selection. Some small portion of it was done just with time, nature, and interaction with us.

You don't have to conflate the ongoing process of evolution with anything else. If you believe in heredity (eg. that your kids look like you), then you believe in evolution. Evolution doesn't prove where we came from, it just lays out the process of sexual selection.

The argument made in the Scopes trials is a good one. Evolution and science do not disprove religion, and Darwin himself thought if anything, evolution was proof of God's existence.

[–] 1 pt

Didn't the Scopes trial use piltdown man as their "evidence".

The same piltdown man that was found to be a complete and utter literal fabrication and fraud?

Yes, it

[–] 4 pts

No, and what does that have to do with anything mentioned above?

[–] 3 pts

Because I like to say fun things.

Niggers cum in monkeys

[–] 2 pts

That’s how AIDS started lol

[–] 1 pt

Hell nah, God cummed us like mah Bible says!!!

[–] 1 pt

I think if we came from monkeys then scientists wouldn't be baffled by "the missing link".

what's really going to blow your mind is that Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Collard Greens, Kale and Kohlrabi are all the same plant, bred in slightly different freakish manners.

created

Eh. Poor choice of words. I forget the term used but selective breeding to furnish wanted results may be "creating" but it's still a natural process and man had no part in the actual creation of broccoli.

(Selective breeding is the term, kek) Still interesting though to know this is how it came about.

Sweet pickle Jesus. Or in this case, sweet broccoli Jesus.

Another interesting thing to think about is how most fruits have been primed to have as much sugar as possible. They do not naturally occur like that.

[–] 1 pt

I get that people will naturally pick the sweeter fruit, but these days I'd say it's done intentionally with more sugar to turn us all into fat fucks with diabeetus.

[–] 1 pt

also, look at bananas... there used to be a lot of varieties. now we have one or 2.

[–] 2 pts

There are still hundreds of varietals of banana in the world today. The vast majority of them are not worth eating because they are hard, filled with giant seeds and taste like shit. The Cavendish and Gros Michel (Big Mike) cultivars were selectively grown to produce an edible and good tasting banana. Both are monoculture crops which means all the Cavendish and Big Mike plants are essentially clones. They are all susceptible to Panama Disease which wiped out the ability to produce the Big Mike cultivar on an industrial scale. The Cavendish will fall to it one day as well. They have been working towards a new cultivar that will replace the Cavendish when this happens. It's not ready yet.

Fun banana facts: The synthetic banana flavor was the first artificial food flavoring produced in a lab. Banana ester is the main component of the banana flavor and is therefore extremely accurate. Most people would disagree since they say it doesn't really taste like banana, but it actually does because it is the flavor of the now unviable Big Mike cultivar. Most people today don't know the flavor of the Big Mike since they have only had the Cavendish which tastes different. Modern bananas don't actually taste the same as their predecessors but the artificial banana flavor is accurate.

Bit of a wasted effort. I mean, they could have been genetically engineering cat-girls, but no... gotta be broccoli.

[–] 13 pts

why do people think that would be a good idea?

Women, are already insane emotional things that require serious discipline.

Cats -- are insane creatures that dont allow discipline or direction and will maul the shit out of you on a moments notice...

Nothing good could possibly come from the combination of cat and girl...

do not listen to him

he is a fag kike

[–] 1 pt

He’s right. Cats and women are the two worst things on planet earth. Behind kikes and niggers of course.

did i piss in your cheerios?

Dr. Sebi advised against eating broccoli, said since it’s cross-bred it’s acidic and has no restorative, healing charge that naturally occurring green vegetables can have:

Broccoli delicious but.

[–] 1 pt

Someone who’s a member of The Broccoli Lobby downvoted me 😆!

I would like to thank The Academy...

... healing charge? Ight fam

Look up “Dr. Sebi electric vegetables” for more info.

I would rather eat broccoli.

(Funny thing -- I started out as one of the folks who have the genetic aversion to broccoli. It literally tasted like pesticide and poison. When I turned 40 I realized that broccoli didn't smell the same, and now I could enjoy it with no problems. The poison flavor was entirely gone.

My best guess is that it is an epigenetic thing, and my Marital Relations (I got married a few short years earlier) had mingled my biome and hormones with the wife's, who has always loved broccoli. For whatever reason, my body turned off that gene.

I would say that it is just changing tastes, but it worked for the whole branch of plants, including brussel sprouts and cauliflower -- except that I still hate cauliflower. It no longer tastes like pesticide, but it still tastes bad to me.)

Every single plant food is man-made, including the seeds you can buy to plant in a home garden. None of it existed for perhaps 99% of our evolution. The notion that we are adapted to a diet heavy in these foods is quite absurd.

[–] 1 pt

And now I know. Nice.

[–] 1 pt

They were all made by man. Humans colonized the whole Earth bc of meat. Plants are trash.

[–] 1 pt

i agree, 10,000 type of plants can kill you . but only small parts of meat from a couple animals can kill you

My wife is going to be disappointed when I tell her "we're eating Italian tonight" and give her a big dish.

The Brassica family of plants, including kale and Brussels sprouts. Selective breeding is a part of agriculture. Corn, watermelons, bananas etc have been bred to yield more food, in turn they are cared for by the farmers
