They still tour? I gave up on them when they started sueing everyone.

I gave up on them when they started sueing everyone.

I tossed them aside when they released that shitty nigger black album. And Load was a load of shit I didn't waste any time on. I have no idea what shit they released after that garbage.

Thank god you missed Saint Anger. They made an intentionally bad album because they thought that is what lo-fi meant (during the surge of unpolished garage band music of the early 00's). That faggot Lars kept his snare heads loose so it would sound like he was beating on a 55-gallon oil drum. James wrote a bunch of crybaby therapy lyrics. People still meme that shitty album to this day. "My lifestyle determines my deathstyle" indeed.

Re-load was after Load, but I quit paying attention there.

Of the entire field level of standing room only there was one little baby mosh pit and most in the stands remained seated most of the show. Metallica fanbase getting old LOL.

they sold their soul, they can never stop. or its pepsi-time.

[–] 1 pt

Pepsi-time?

[–] 0 pt

So if you read pepsi mirrored it spells out "isded" ..

Jesus fuck.

That whole sign language scam really exploded with the chinese sniffles, didn't it? I've seen more than one video where it turned out the interpreter didn't sign ASL at all, just making random gestures. So funny.

[–] 3 pts

I would support some scammer just making fake motions and charging any idiot who thinks they need to have them

[–] 2 pts

A better one would be someone who actually knows sign language to sign facts like 13%=50%.

[–] 2 pts

I never considered them a real metal band. Wannabes and posers.

[–] 2 pts

I've always heard my gen call them not posers but sell outs cause of the sound changes and such. But tbh I'm in the minority that is like, "They had some early good stuff, but the black album is where they really started hitting their stride"

[–] 1 pt

First three albums were great, they kneecapped an epic fourth album by mixing out the bass to prank their new bass player, and the fifth album is when they signed the agreement to sell out.

[–] 2 pts

Was this a head banging interpretive sign language, or did they play it straight? Did they lip sync while doing this?

I could imagine deaf people liking Metallica by "feel" for their use of strong rests in their music that gives a pronounced rhythmic element element to their songs. The pauses are as loud as the music.

There's that fag talk i'm talkin' about

Yeah whatever, but my point stands.

[–] 0 pt

I sort of get the "feel" of the music thing, go for the vibe and lights whatever. But then people are not locked in and watching this signer.

[–] 0 pt

The deaf community likes to go to live shows particularly those where the music can be felt in their butts and bones.

[–] 1 pt

Are they actually like looking at the signer guy though, or you know, watching the show like everyone else?

[–] 3 pts

My son goes to lots of metal concerts, and pretty much said what @PlatosCaveman said. The deaf are rocking out through their asses. Lamb of God had this enthusiastic ASL signer (m.youtube.com) on board for a while!

[–] 1 pt

Yep. A lot of venues will reserve space up front for deaf folks so they can view the interpreter and feel the bass. I once watched a hot chick at TOOL show turn ASL into a bonafide bad ass performance.

[–] 1 pt

Well I'll be. Ya learn something new. I assumed it was like some law that you must provide sign for any public event that no one paid attention to.

[–] 0 pt

It makes sense. If you are a long time metal fan who never discovered ear plugs you’re probably deaf by now.

[–] 0 pt

I went to a Metallica concert my dad bought us tickets for a few years ago when they played in the Busch Stadium at St. Louis. I've also heard machine guns, grenades, and tannerite go off, but that show was the loudest thing I have ever heard. Why the fuck would someone deaf go to it?

[–] 0 pt

That band became fake and gay when they decided they wanted to be the Napster poster children.

(air quotes) NAPSTER BAD NAPSTER BAD

That has been a while, hasn't it.

I was idk, 20-ish when it came out, that was what, in 2000? Fuck man I feel so old.
