If you keep water flowing slightly, it keeps it cycling through the drain (like a sink) as well. Antifreeze for the toilet overnight perhaps would prevent a frozen trap, but it would have to be really cold to freeze a p trap that size solid in just a few hours. Once drain lines get under grade, they don’t typically freeze up. And they are pitched otherwise (one would hope at least) so water doesn’t hang out in the lines. It is always flowing.
Well everything is different, for instance my kitchen sink goes thru a greasetrap then to a field drain. And you have to keep in mind things arent supposed to get this cold down here, fuckin global greta.
It’s still the same principle. If you keep it flowing, it won’t freeze solid. Do you have a lot of wind with your cold, or just cold?
in woods, still can see drain freezing. I mean if my water does why wouldnt the drain? Im still debating leaving anything running tonite, concrete slab. But Im almost a mile from meter and several faucets on the way.
