Ours relaxed a lot because big grocery stores wanted a slice of the pie. Before the current governor was instilled, the previous one made a big deal about letting beer and wine be sold in grocery stores and all alcohol be allowed to be sold on Sundays, but with more restrictions than weekdays. Can't sell early Sunday, still have to buy hard liquor at the state run stores, can only buy so much at grocery stores and the prices are higher. But distributors can sell smaller packages instead of an entire case, so they can get impulse buyers to try other products, it's less expensive.
Oh yeah, we’ve always been allowed to buy beer and wine in grocery stores but liquor stores were closed on sundays(don’t sell beer or wine) I believe they still close at 7pm or maybe that was relaxed.
Then Washington state passed a law a few years ago that all grocery stores could sell alcohol and Oregon in a panic allowed our liquor stores to be open on sundays and they may have also let them stay open later, I still get there by 7 and never go on sundays(habit and each one is different now). But most are family owned and are closed, there’s a few in the area that are open on sundays though.
I still don’t understand why bars have to close at 2:30 other states allow them open later, why as adults do we have a curfew and cut off time. What about people who work second shifts?
I bet people thought my brother was an unemployed welfare leeching redneck alcoholic for drinking a beer on the porch at 7AM every day.
I mean, he is pretty much a redneck. Pickup truck, 4-wheeler, wife as big as a compact car.
