Bible tells us that giants were on the earth and were men of renown. I believe many "fictional" characters from our mythologies and many "historical" characters could be based on these giants. Zeus, maybe was a real giant, for example.

IIRC they would be the Nephilim -- offspring of angels and humans. They predated the flood which also predated David. So yeah I think they could be historical figures, but more like Hercules type figures IMO, but likely nothing to do with David.

There's some conspiracies floating around. One of the more convincing ones is of giants' bones being sent to museums and somehow, mysteriously, always disappearing. Lots of accounts, lots of credible people saying they witnessed these items leaving for universities, etc, never to be seen again.
