Maybe we shouldn't have fucked with the Japanese by cutting off their supply of oil.
People seem to forget we provoked this.
Britain was Japan's bestie at the turn of the 20th century, and we kind of sort of told them that it would be in their best interests to be our bestie instead. That pissed Japan off quite a bit, so they had quite a bit of reason to hate us.
There were British coastal guns (remains of) still on some of the beaches in Japan even into the 90s. There's a picture of one in a book called "War of our Fathers: Relics of the Pacific Battlefields," a great picture book that uses infrared film photography to present a somewhat somber image of the stuff that was left behind after the war.

The United States opened up Japan to the west in 1851.....
Yes.
That book looks really cool.
I recently watched a documentary about Fort Drum in the Philippines. Very interesting stuff.
It's a pretty nice book. Not a whole lot of meat to it, just a lot of pictures. The photography method, infrared film, gives everything a soft, surreal look.
America and GB purposely provoked them. Knew they were coming. Ignored the fleet when it was sighted. And permitted the attack, having moved the fleet contrary to orders. It was all a false flag to enter America in a war they engineered from start to finish.
Both parties had a secret agreement with Hitler too. Caused a change in ascension to the crown.
Also every shop at pearl down to lowly destroyers were older vessels.
Not just the carriers were held back
Moving pac fleet to pearl was also both a provocation and enabling of the raid
I also don't think that Hitler declared war on usa.
I think that was faked.
Hitler didn't declare war on any nation. Just surprise attacked Germany and Japan were never allies
Japanese were smarter than to attack a country with about 80 times more access to oil than they had themselves.
The Japanese were not responsible for the attack. Who knows if anyone lost their lives? If someone was responsible it wouldn't have been the Japanese.
